AZU Restaurant
Azu Restaurant and Bar in downtown Ojai has been a lively, central gathering place for locals and visitors in the Ojai Valley for nearly 20 years. Chef and owner Laurel Moore had a vision to bring Spanish cuisine to Ojai, so she created Azu, Ojai’s original California tapas bar, where she blends traditional Spanish flavors and California favorites. In the lovingly restored 1910 building which historically housed the famous Bill Baker’s bakery, two decades of constant refinement have created a warm, creative, inclusive atmosphere filled with interesting people, inventive dishes and a variety of spectacular beverages, including offerings from the local Ojai Valley Brewery. Azu is place where curious foodies, wine lovers and families alike can enjoy an easy mix of casual sophistication, flavors of the local soil and an extensive wine list.
With over 5600 sq. ft. of indoor space, this historical building in a prime location could easily be converted to offices, a wellness center, or a retail space. Currently, Azu has multiple dining areas with approximately 160 seats. In front is a full bar with family tables, front sidewalk dining, and an intimate fireplace dining room. In back is a private dining room with a second full bar and a garden patio. There are two full kitchens, one for regular dining and one for private events and catering. There is also walk-in refrigeration and large dishroom.
In addition to regular dining, Azu is frequently used as an event venue, working closely with the Ojai Valley Inn and other hotels for private dining needs. The large private dining area, with its separate kitchen, full bar and adjoining garden, is the perfect place to host welcome dinners, weddings, corporate events, birthdays, pop-ups and events for local organizations.
